Accessibility statement
ThisWay is for people who are often tired, stressed, distracted or reading at 3am. So we design every page to be easy to see, read and use, whatever your needs.
In short
- We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as a minimum, with AAA contrast for body text.
- We haven't had an independent accessibility audit yet. We'll have one before ThisWay-Menopause opens and publish what it finds.
- If something doesn't work for you, tell us and we'll help, including sending information in another format.
What we do
- Easy to read. We use Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for low vision, at a large size. Body text has a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 (WCAG AAA). We write in plain English, in short sentences.
- Easy to use. Every page works with a keyboard, has a "Skip to content" link, clear focus outlines and buttons at least 44 pixels tall. Pages reflow for small phone screens and zoomed text without sideways scrolling.
- Works with assistive technology. Pages use proper headings, labels and landmarks for screen readers. Images have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Kind to your brain and body. No flashing, autoplaying video or countdown timers. Animations are turned off if your device asks for reduced motion. You can skip any question and come back later.
- Modes for hard moments. Member areas have a large-text phone view, and quieter night modes (such as 3am mode in ThisWay-Menopause and night feed mode in ThisWay-Postpartum) with a dark background and fewer things on screen. ThisWay-ADHD has a focus mode that shows one thing at a time.
How we check
We test every page on desktop and phone with automated checks for errors and sideways scrolling, and check keyboard use. Before each service opens, we'll also test it with screen readers. We'll add an independent audit, and testing with members who use assistive technology, before ThisWay-Menopause opens on 19 January 2027.
What we know isn't perfect yet
- Charts in the member areas show patterns in your check-ins. Each chart has a short text description, but screen readers can't yet read out every value.
- Downloadable packs (PDFs). Packs are designed to print clearly. Screen reader support in PDFs is still being tested. If a pack doesn't work for you, ask us and we'll send it in another format.
- Calendar reminders you download are plain calendar files. How accessible they are depends on your calendar app.
- Third-party pages. Payment pages are run by Stripe, and some links go to NHS and GOV.UK pages we don't control.
We'll update this list as we fix things.
Other formats and help
If you need information in a different format, such as large print, plain text, an accessible document or a call with a family member present, or if something doesn't work for you, email hello@thisway.health. Tell us what you need and how best to reach you. We'll reply within 5 working days.
We also make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, for example extending a deadline, or helping you cancel or make a complaint another way.
If you're not happy
Tell us first, using our complaints policy. If you're still not happy, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can advise you in England, Scotland and Wales, and the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland can in Northern Ireland.
This statement was prepared on 30 September 2026 and will be reviewed before each ThisWay service opens, and at least every 12 months.
