Cookies and storage
What ThisWay stores in your browser, and why. The short answer is very little, and nothing for advertising or tracking.
In short
- No advertising cookies, tracking pixels or social media trackers, anywhere on ThisWay.
- We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies.
- The only things we store are needed to make the site work, such as keeping you signed in or keeping your questionnaire answers in your tab.
- Because of that, UK law doesn't require a cookie banner, so we don't show one.
What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Browsers can also keep information in "local storage" and "session storage". UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) treats all of these the same way: a website needs your consent to use them unless they're strictly needed for a service you asked for, or fall within a few other narrow exceptions.
Everything ThisWay stores is strictly necessary for something you've asked us to do.

When member accounts open, your member area will save to your secure account instead of your browser, and we'll update this table.
Counting visits without cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit each page, so we know which pages help. It doesn't use cookies or local storage, doesn't collect your IP address for tracking, and doesn't follow you to other sites. We only see totals.
What we don't use
- Advertising or remarketing cookies
- Facebook, TikTok, Google or other tracking pixels
- Embedded videos or social media posts that set their own cookies
- Fingerprinting or any other way of recognising your device without asking.
If we ever wanted to use anything that isn't strictly necessary, we'd ask your permission first, with "Reject" as easy as "Accept", and we'd never use it on the questionnaire or member pages.
Controlling storage yourself
You can delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings at any time. In the member area, Delete my answers removes everything the member area has stored. Blocking these items may stop parts of ThisWay working, such as staying signed in.
