How it works

How ThisWay-Menopause works

A short questionnaire, a pathway of next steps ranked by evidence, a record that keeps itself and a printable pack for every appointment. Everything happens online, whenever suits you.

A woman with short grey hair works at her laptop at a desk, reading the screen.

1. The questionnaire

Free, about eight minutes and no login. One question at a time, with a progress bar, and you can save and come back.

"This isn't a test and it won't tell you whether you're in menopause. It helps us point you to the right information and the right people. It takes about eight minutes, and you can skip any question."

About you

Age, where in the UK you live, periods, contraception, and any surgery or cancer treatment.

What you're noticing

Body, mind, sleep, intimate and bladder changes, and how often each one affects you.

Impact

Work, relationships and daily life.

Where you've been

GP visits so far, what you've tried and what helped.

Safety questions

A few questions, based on NHS advice, that make sure you're pointed to a GP quickly if something needs checking.

Preferences

NHS or private, how you like to learn, and whether a partner is involved.

2. Your pathway

Every pathway has the same five parts, in the same order, so you always know where to look.

See an example pathway

  1. What you told us

Your answers mirrored back, with neutral context about what they might mean.

  2. How to prepare

What to bring, what to ask and how to describe the impact on your life.

  3. What guidance says

What NICE and the NHS say you can expect, as general information.

  4. While you wait

Everyday ideas matched to what's bothering you most.

How we rank your next steps

Each possible next step gets an evidence score for your answers. The highest-scoring steps come first, and each one shows its reason and its source.

Where you live

Official NHS information on the services, routes and costs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Rules we never break

  • We rank routes and actions, never conditions or treatments.
  • We never show how likely you are to be in menopause, or to have any other condition.
  • We only use published research and official UK guidance, and every step links to its source.
  • Every pathway ends with: if you're worried, speak to your GP.
  • No one pays to appear in a pathway. Ever.

3. Your journey record

Every questionnaire, check-in, appointment and treatment you log goes into one timeline. It replaces the notes, screenshots and memory most of us rely on.

It builds your printable appointment pack and powers the monthly update to your next steps.

Weekly check-inTwo minutes, by email or notification. Patterns show as simple charts.
Monthly updateYour next steps re-ranked as things change.
Appointment packFive printable pages for your appointment, built from your record. See an example
Right for where you liveRoutes and costs differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so your pathway does too.
