Our standards
Honest about what we know, and where it comes from
ThisWay-Menopause is independent, built only on published evidence, and clear about what it can and can't do. Here's how we hold ourselves to that.
Independent
We sell nothing but the guidance. No products, no supplements, no adverts and no paid placement. Your next steps are ranked by evidence, never by who pays.
Built only on published evidence
Every step, statistic and article comes from published research or official guidance, and shows its source. We re-check sources every 12 months, and within 30 days of new NICE or British Menopause Society guidance.
Where our evidence comes from
We only use published research and official guidance. Every step, statistic and article links to its source, so you can check it yourself.
UK clinical guidance
NICE guideline NG23, Menopause: identification and management.
NHS information
NHS advice on menopause, perimenopause and when to see a GP, and how services work in each UK nation.
Professional guidance
Patient information and consensus statements from the British Menopause Society.
Published research
Peer-reviewed studies and large UK surveys, such as the Fawcett Society's 2022 survey of 4,014 women.
When the evidence is thin or mixed, we say so. We don't fill gaps with opinion.
What we'll never do
- Diagnose you, or tell you how likely you are to be in menopause
- Tell you what to take, start or stop
- Tell you that you don't need to see a doctor
- Rank treatments. We rank next steps and places to get help
- Sell or share your data for advertising
ThisWay points you to the right help. That keeps it on the right side of the MHRA's guidance on symptom checkers.
Your data
What you tell us about your health is some of the most personal information there is, and we look after it that way.
- We only collect what we need, and only with your clear consent.
- Stored in the UK or EU, encrypted, and kept apart from marketing data.
- No advertising trackers on the questionnaire or member pages.
- Your answers are never used to rank anyone's next steps. Rankings come only from published research and official guidance.
- Download or delete your data yourself, from your account.
Everyone belongs here
We write for women of every age, ethnicity, body, sexuality and background, and so that trans men and non-binary people feel welcome too.
Early menopause, surgical menopause and menopause after cancer each have their own pathway, not a footnote in someone else's.
